As an alt.netter I am always searching for better ways to make software. I am also searching for better ways to manage my time. At the moment I am going old school with my time management. Here is what works for me:
- In the morning I clear a space on my whiteboard and write a heading 'Goals for today'
- Under the heading I list the tasks I want to complete. If a goal can't be completed in one day it needs to be broken into a set of smaller tasks.
- If a new goal comes up during the day I add it to the list.
- When a goal is completed I stand-up, grab a marker and cross the goal out. This is suprisingly satisfying.

In the spirit of setting simple goals and publically reporting progress, my goals are:
- to learn Italian
- to improve my fitness so that I can sail my dinghy faster
Today I made some good progress on the Italian and the dog and I ran 3.6kms.
Here is today's italian word of the day: casa (house)
